Join us for an intimate winter concert that blends the warmth of the season with the timeless beauty of Spanish guitar. Acclaimed classical guitarist and vihuelist David Rogers returns with a seasonal adaptation of his celebrated program, Music of Arabian Spain, enhanced with festive and reflective holiday selections.
Set against the serene backdrop of Lady Hill, this private afternoon concert offers a rare opportunity to experience music that bridges cultures, centuries, and traditions. Explore the rich musical landscape of 16th-century Spain with us as David draws on the works of Valencian court musician Luis Milán and the profound interplay of Arab, Sephardic, North African, and European influences that shaped Andalusian music.
Your ticket includes:
Live concert performance
Light tapas
A generous wine splash
The evening unfolds in two parts:
Music rooted in medieval and Renaissance Spain, infused with improvisational spirit and historical depth
Later Spanish works from the 20th and 21st centuries, revealing how these ancient traditions continue to echo in modern Spanish music—interwoven with select seasonal and holiday pieces especially chosen for this time of year.
About the Artist
David Rogers has been praised by The New York Times as a “prominent guitarist,” and by The Washington Post for his “astonishingly florid” solo improvisations. A modern master of the classical guitar, Rogers is equally renowned for his artistry on early plucked instruments such as the vihuela, a Renaissance precursor to the guitar.
He has recorded for Dorian, Callisto, and Focus Recordings, and has taught master classes at institutions including the San Francisco Conservatory, USC, and Interlochen National Arts Camp. An endorsing artist for Aquila Strings (Italy), Rogers’ compositions and performances are widely featured in international guitar publications.
